Better than a pair of pumps! (I'm talking about shoes)
So, what is Patent View and is it really better than a pair of pumps?
As an admitted high-heel lover, I can say that Patent View manages to offer an exceedingly gratifying feeling that is better (only slightly! Let's not get crazy, here) than buying a slick new pair of patent pumps. That's because Patent View is a simple, unassuming, frameless, and fast view model meant to stay out of your way.
Patent is also a tiny love letter that I've written to Javascript. In the current web-sphere of endless libraries and new frameworks, the idea of breaking through all those levels of abstraction to put together a plain JS-driven application was exciting. The ECMAScript ecosystem continues to evolve into a robust development standard that powers Javascript and its capability of buttressing dynamic web applications.
Patent View takes advantage of ES6 modules, the DOM tree, and various Javascript Web APIs—all without the need of a single transpiler! It's cross-browser compatible, not skipping a beat in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (Chromium), and the most popular mobile browsers. Most of all, Patent is platform independent, meaning you don't need Node.js for it to be manageable.
But Patent isn't meant to be everything. It's meant to be one thing: no frills. There are plenty of amazing, feature-rich frameworks out there, but sometimes, all you need is something simple.
That's what Patent View is—clear and simple.
